Follow Friday

Follow Friday hosted by ParaJunkee and Alison Can Read

Follow Friday Question:

Q: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?

For me it would be erotica. Personally I want my blog to be about books that anyone can read, and erotica is not for everyone. My blog carries everything from YA, Adult fiction, Christian fiction, non- fiction , even children's books . So honestly I don't read the erotic because it just doesn't fit my blog lifestyle . :)

So now it's your turn what book genre do you avoid?
Thanks for tuning in to this weeks Follow Friday

Agree! It's slightly awkward to read (even if it is well written)

Couldn't agree more! Granted, I have never really given it a try, but there are just some things you know you won't like. New follower!

I totally agree with you. A lot of romance is only about the sex, lacking a real story line with flat characters. Great answer. I also like to tell people about books that anyone can read. New follower! Check out my FF:

I have read some great books in that genre but I agree it is not something everyone can read.

Returning the visist! Yep, I have to turn down books pretty frequently because they just don't fit who I am and what my blog needs to be about. :-)

Jessi (Geo) said...

I would be open to the idea, but not if I wanted a deep story line. And I don't think I would want to write a review on it, lol. That would be something private in my own time.

That seems to be a genre a lot of people avoid. That and smutty romance novels.

oh honestly i didn't even think about them since they're not young adult, and i only read young adult. But yes, i just don't think there is a story behind a novel with this genre.

I've read erotica in the past but it's not something I would ever review on my blog. I tend to stick mostly to YA stuff. :P

And I agree. I do not like novels where the romantic element is the center of the story--there has to be something more for me.

Some of the PNR and romance I read gets steamy enough, I can't imagine how much further erotica would go. I would probably take a pass on that as well.

Every genre can have its good books and bad ones. Unfortunately a bad one can put you off the genre forever. I pretty much read every as long as it has a good story. Following back from The Paperback Princesses

I have to agree there. I kind of think that it doesn't appeal to me in any way and- though I know in my head it isn't- part of me feels it's a unclean area to delve in. I also think romance is more interesting and important, not the erotica, when reading.
